The Magic of Potatoes

I love potatoes!  You can do so many different things to them that changes the flavour and texture. When it comes to making potato wedges, you’ll want to choose the right type of potato. Russet potatoes are a popular choice for wedges because of their starchy texture, which helps them get nice and crispy in the oven. But don’t be afraid to experiment with different varieties like Yukon Gold or red potatoes for a twist on tradition.

How to Make Perfect Potato Wedges

So how do we make the perfect oven-baked potato wedges? It’s actually quite simple. All you need are some potatoes, a few pantry staples, and an oven preheated to 425°F (220°C). Start by scrubbing your potatoes clean, dry them off thoroughly and then cut them into wedges. Once you’ve got your wedges all sliced up, it’s time to give them a little bath. Toss them in some olive oil and your favorite seasonings – whether it’s just salt and pepper or a mix of garlic powder, paprika, or even grated Parmesan cheese. The possibilities are endless!

Baking and Serving

Spread your seasoned potato wedges out on a baking sheet in a single layer – make sure they’re not too crowded. Pop them in the oven and let the magic happen. After about 25-30 minutes, give them a flip and let them cook for another 10-15 minutes until they’re golden brown and crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. And there you have it – perfectly crispy oven-baked potato wedges, ready to be devoured!

Get Creative with Toppings

Let’s talk about some fun ways to jazz up your potato wedges. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauces – think ketchup, aioli, or even barbecue sauce for a little extra kick. Or, if you’re feeling fancy, why not top them with some melted cheese, crispy bacon, and green onions for loaded potato wedge goodness?

Are Potato Wedges Healthy?

Now, I know what you’re thinking – are potato wedges actually healthy? Well, it depends on how you look at it. While potatoes do contain carbs, they’re also packed with essential nutrients like potassium, vitamin C, and fiber. Plus, when you bake them in the oven with just a touch of olive oil, you’re avoiding all the extra fat and calories that come with deep frying. So go ahead, enjoy those potato wedges guilt-free!

Whether you’re serving the oven-baked potato wedges up as a side dish for dinner or snacking on them while binge-watching your favorite TV show, potato wedges are sure to satisfy.
